Taking a Birthday Off

Here I am! In the realization that family and friends and especially our kids are making a really big deal out of having fun cakes done for their birthdays.... We took one off! Or, rather, I decided to have an ice cream cake from our local Big Scoop ice cream shop!

Jedediah's 5th Birthday Cake

Orange! Jedediah asked for orange - his favorite color! I had been looking through cake magazines and thought that a castle cake couldn't be tooo hard to make. Something new. A bit harder than what I was used to. Another inspiration for the castle was that we had converted the boy's bunk bed into a castle and painted it and everything... Adding some shape to the cake etc. Hadn't figured out fondant yet. LOVE using colored sugar. That was the big find on this cake!

Jaden's 3rd Birthday

This one was for Jaden's 3rd Birthday. We (Zindra and I) had just figured out that we could decorate cakes and make them look nice! Again, a little too blue. Zindra realized at this point, after me writing on two cakes, that I have better cake decorating handwriting than she does! You should see my handwriting in real life!

One of our first Creative Cakes

This was one of our first Creative Cakes. Funny, Jedediah wanted to have an "Incredibles" Birthday Party. We thought we'd make it Incredibles-RED. Well, needless to say it was late, we were tired and we added red food coloring into a silver KitchenAid bowl... and tada - We have a Really Red Cake!
And... here in the photo it looks orange? yah.
